He According to Bryan I'Anson, John appears to have settled in Hauxwell,
near Richmond, shortly after the accession of Henry of Richmond to the
throne of England as Henry VII. He is thought to have come to England with
Henry at the time of the Battle of Bosworth in 1485.
"An old record" apparently states that he was the commander of a man-of-war
in the reign of Henry VIII, although "some writers" wrongly ascribe this
to his son James whose will describes him as a Vintner of Cornhill and
is dated 1584, during Elizabeth I's reign. of Arms record of
Herald's Visitations names only two sons: Christopher and James after 1505.
