9. JOHN4 I'ANSON (Francis3, Francis2, Francis1); baptized 9 Oct 1774 St Oswalds, Hauxwell, NRY; m. Sarah Margaret Davis of Hartlebury 10 Sep 1814 St Botoph's Church, Aldgate, London.  He was a Haberdasher, Woollen Draper. As of 1821, John I'Anson lived at Leadenhall Street, LDN.

The five known children of John4 I'Anson and Sarah Margaret Davis of Hartlebury were as follows: 

  • 15. i. John Samuel5 I'Anson; m. Edith Gillespie; b. 23 Aug 1815 Castle Street, London; baptized 15 Sep 1815 St Botolph's, Aldgate, London.  He was apprentice to William Thurlby, who married his sister, Sarah Margaret. He stayed in their household until William's death in 1851 before 1852. As of before 1852, John Samuel I'Anson lived at 144 Highcross St, Leicester, LEI. He emigrated to Australia in 1852.
  • 16. ii. Sarah Margaret (Darm) I'Anson; b. 20 Dec 1816 Castle Street, London; baptized 2 Feb 1817 St Botolph's, Aldgate, London; m. William Thurlby, son of William Thurlby and Mary I'Anson, 11 Jan 1838; d. 9 Feb 1908 Castlemaine, Victoria, AUS, at age 91.  She was worked for the Davis aunts from 1828 until her marriage in 1828. As of after 1838, Sarah Margaret (Darm) I'Anson lived at 144 High Cross St, Leicester. As of after 1852, Sarah Margaret (Darm) I'Anson lived at Lowestoft, NFK. She emigrated to Australia in 1854. As of circa 1880, Sarah Margaret (Darm) I'Anson lived at "Hawkswell", Malden, VIC, AUS.
  • 17. iii. Mary Ann I'Anson; christened 17 Mar 1819 St. Katherine Creechurch, LDN, ENG; d. 26 Sep 1885 Aixs-le-Bains, Savoy, France, at age 66. Mary helped one of her Davis aunts (Mrs Curwen) to run an exclusive girls' school. She remained unmarried. A copperplate list exists (in Ann Burleigh's collection) of how she would bequeath her belongings to family members, naming brothers John and Thomas Francis, sister Sarah, sisters in law Edith and Arabella, and all their children. She appeared on the census of 1881 at 42 Grosvenor Place, London, MDX.
  • 18. iv. Isabella Lyne I'Anson; m. Edward Sampson; christened Feb 1821 St. Katherine Cree church, LDN, ENG.
  • + 19. v. Dr Thomas Francis (Frank) I'Anson, b. 1825 London, MDX; m. Arabella Welby.
14. MARY4 I'ANSON (Francis3, Francis2, Francis1); m. William Thurlby.

The only known child of Mary4 I'Anson and William Thurlby was:

  • 20. i. William5 Thurlby; b. 30 Jul 1813; m. Sarah Margaret (Darm) I'Anson, daughter of John I'Anson and Sarah Margaret Davis of Hartlebury, 11 Jan 1838; d. 20 Dec 1851 at age 38. He was a Stonemason.

19. DR THOMAS FRANCIS (FRANK)5 I'ANSON (John4, Francis3, Francis2, Francis1); b. 1825 London, MDX; m. Arabella Welby circa 1846 Leicester; d. 19 Aug 1898 Whitehaven, CUL, ENG; his estate was probated after Sep 1898.

Dr Thomas Francis (Frank) I'Anson lived at 20 Irish Street, Whitehaven, CUL. He was Appointed House Surgeon. Resigned post 3 Jul 1849. Remained on surgical staff until he retired on 12 Oct 1846 Whitehaven & West Cumberland Infirmary. He appeared on the census of 1881 20 Irish Street, Whitehaven, CUL. He was retired in 1897.

The seven known children of Dr Thomas Francis (Frank)5 I'Anson and Arabella Welby were as follows: 

  • 21. i. Rosa?6 I'Anson; b.
  • 22. ii. Dr Welby I'Anson; b. between 1853 and 1854 Whitehaven, CUL.

  • 23. iii. Frank Leonard I'Anson; b. between 1856 and 1857 Whitehaven, CUL.

  • 24. iv. Ada Mary I'Anson; b. between 1861 and 1862; m. Mr Waugh circa 1894.

  • She appeared on the census of 1881 Vicarage, Irton With Santon, CUL.
  • 25. v. Brian Walter I'Anson; b. 16 May 1861; d. 7 Oct 1894 Mildura, AUS, at age 33.

    He was not found on 1881 Census -- emigrated already? in 1881. He emigrated before 1894. Lost his land holding to the Chaffey Bros. of Mildura and couldn't make a success of a musical career before 1894.
